You don’t have to try so hard to be good.
It’s not about fixing yourself–
you are not broken.
Only awaken to who you are,
and stay alert as you take each step
along this path of life.
Breathe slowly, deeply, and often,
listen more than you speak.
Open your eyes wide and close your mouth,
give more than you take.
Turn off the TV
and turn on your mind,
go to bed with the sun
and awaken early
to sit in the quiet before dawn.
There are so many ways
to live with presence.
Find your way,
and honor it with your whole life.
