Living Now

What a precious gift,
the present moment,
and how rare the ability
to actually be here
in mind as well as body.
Mind tells stories of the past and future
and we forget where we are now.
We become wrapped up
with things that were said and done
years ago,
and we fixate on stories
of what may yet come to pass,
all the while
our hearts are bravely beating,
and life is breathing through us.
Who would we be without our stories
of the past and future?
Close your eyes, be still,
go inwards.
This precious human life
of ours is finite.
Awaken and live it now,
or you will never truly live.

Note:  I actually wrote this poem last night…and in my state of exhaustion, neglected to hit the “Publish” button!  Sigh…so I made sure to date my poem correctly, to reflect when I wrote it.  Just wanted to let you know in case you were wondering what became of my poem of the day for yesterday! ❤ 🙂  #human
