NaPoWriMo 2017 Day 18: No Neologisms

If I could make up words
they would be musical,
poetic, inspiring, healing.
They would be combinations
of my favorite words,
meant to delight and amuse,
motivate, help.
But I feel stuck
trying to make up my own words
because there are so many beautiful
magical, delightful words already.
Also, I’m a nerd about spelling,
and there’s something anxiety provoking
about taking something accepted,
something known,
and turning it into something
completely new.
Also, I’m tired (again),
and making something up
takes energy,
(and trust and courage
and the ability to surrender
to something
beyond myself).
So I suppose any neologisms
waiting for me to birth them
will have to wait for another day.

The NaPoWriMo prompt for today invites us to create something with neologisms.  My tired brain just balked at the idea, and so of course I didn’t get very far. Perhaps one day.
