Contemplation, Introspection, Connection

Standard

Starting the year gently,
in contemplation,
introspection,
and connection.
Awoke contemplating the privilege
of breathing, being alive today.
Went inwards,
asked for the Divine Plan
to be made clear,
opened my heart to
a deeper listening.
But it was the connection with my children,
looking into their bright eyes
and smiling faces,
that touched me most of all.
We walked out into the sunshine
and I remembered
that my purpose isn’t about me,
but something much greater.
This year, may the fullness of life
pour through me,
and may I live in service of
the One who brought me here.
May I honor that One
by expressing the gifts I was born with,
and may I smooth the passage
of those coming after me,
that they may journey in peace and beauty.

Pray For Me

Standard

Back home from retreat.
I wasn’t given the job
I interviewed for in September,
but was offered another,
at lower pay, with no benefits.
I declined the offer.
It felt exhilarating knowing
that I could assert myself
and make choices based on
confidently knowing
that I am worth way more.
But now what?
Now I need to step fully
into entrepreneurship.
I don’t want to work for anyone else,
I want to work for myself.
I want to get my offerings out to the world
in a bigger way,
and add value to people’s lives.
I want to make it on my own.
I want to be my own boss,
decide my own hours,
work where I want
with whom I want
when I want.
I have no clue what I’m doing.
Pray for me.

Audio Aspiration

Standard

Yes, I did.
A mic.
Yep.
With a boom arm,
shock mount and pop shield.
And an audio interface.
And monitoring headphones.
And at first, nothing, no sound.
But then I learned
I have a lot more to learn.
After a few nights’ sleep
and some humility,
after tweaking cables,
software settings,
gain, monitoring volume
and headphones volume,
Yureka, sound!,
The sound of a voice
captured digitally
and held in space
with the great aspiration
that whatever comes through,
whatever is passed on,
is for the greatest good of all beings.
