Ideas Are Enough

Standard

I woke up with an idea,
a face in my mind…
It took several minutes
to remember the name
that went with the face.
I reached out to this person for help.
At first I resisted doing this
but then I thought
I’m desperate, afterall,
so what do I have to lose?
I had prayed for new thoughts,
new ideas,
and it would be ungrateful of me
to not follow through
when the ideas finally come.
I haven’t heard back from the person.
Maybe nothing will come of this idea
but more ideas.
But wasn’t every great invention
first an idea?
Every great work of art,
every great performance,
every great experience—
weren’t these all ideas
before they were brought to fruition?
For now, there is nothing to do
but receive these ideas
and take action on them.
For now I will trust this is enough.

I Feel Strong

Standard

I don’t know what I was waiting for.
Permission?
A feeling like it was safe?
A belief that I was qualified?
Thinking that I knew enough?
No clue.
Whatever the reason, I was waiting.
But today I began.
And today I feel strong.

****************
I’m going to come out and say it. Today I started the book. It’s a book I’ve been planning on writing since July 2017 when my ex-husband dropped the bomb that shattered our lives into a million tiny pieces. It’s a book about meditation and self-care. When he presented me with a list of what bothered him in our marriage, my meditation practice was on that list.

This book is my answer. I’m going to share with the world how my meditation practice saved me, and how self-care will save you, whether you engage in self-care through meditation or if you have some other kind of practice that lights you up and gives you a strong sense of who you really are.

After putting off writing the book for so long, tonight something shifted. Something was different. I had the It’s now or never feeling pulsing through my body. So I sat my ass down and started writing it. YAY! 😀 Wish me luck!

To The Fullest

Standard

The day dawns,
and with it
a new beginning
full of new possibilities.
God, let me open my eyes
to this day.
Let my path be made clear
before me.
Let me see what needs to be seen
and let me do what needs to be done.
And when I close my eyes tonight,
let me know that I lived this day
to the fullest.

We Have A Choice

Standard

Whenever I feel despair
hearing about the decisions
the policy makers
are making,
I try to remember
that this a  call to action.
This is a self-defining moment,
an opportunity to proclaim
what really matters to me.
As I make my voice heard
those who hear me
might speak up and speak out
might get up and go out
might look in and find out
what is important to them.
We must live for each other
this is the only way
our precious mother
will survive.
Think of the world
seven generations from now.
I want clean water for them.
I want majestic old trees
and oceans and forests
teeming with life
and a world where
the air is fresh
and the ideas are fresher
guiding us back to
living simply
so that all beings
may simply live.
Now,
I will not give in.
I will not accept
the status quo
where just a few profit
and even fewer are in the know.
We must educate, liberate,
extricate ourselves
from bonds placed on us long ago.
Stand up and tell us who you are.
There are more good people
out there who care
than those who could care less.
Express yourself!
We need your voice.
We DO have a choice.
