when I sit down meditate,
I light a candle
and I invoke the Archangels.
I pray to them to help me
see what needs to be seen
hear what needs to be heard
do what needs to be done
speak what needs to be spoken
release what needs to be released
receive what needs to be received.
Today a human angel showed up
to help me clear some old stuff
from my house
and make room for the new
Already my house and my soul
are breathing easier.
Do you see?
Leaving on a journey of initiation.
I took a purifying bath
of lavender and epsom salts,
lit four candles,
called on four archangels
and prayed for guidance.
Let me die to who I was
so I can become
who I was born to be.
Let me surrender what I knew
to make space for what Spirit
wants me to know.
Let me look with the eyes of love.
Let my heart open wide
and my courage be expressed
for the highest good.
I go to sit in ceremony
with the Mother.
I ask her to take me into her arms,
shake from me the excess
and reveal the tender sweetness
of raw, vulnerable being.
Pray for me.
I’ll see you on the other side.
Hi friends…as I was wallowing in my sorrow and misery a few days ago, something reminded me that I’m not alone, and suddenly I had this idea to reach out here…I mean, why not? What if this blog could be a place of connection and collaboration as well as a forum for self-exploration? I became excited thinking about joining minds and energy for a common purpose, and these days any excitement at all is a step in the right direction, so I decided to go for it.
My first idea for a collaborative project is super simple and easy: it’s a call for songs that make you feel uplifted and inspired, that break your heart open and remind you of the presence of the Divine in your life.
I have always loved the idea of angels watching over us…and music is one of the ways that I feel the Divine communicates with us. What if we co-created an Angels playlist, made entirely of beautiful music that speaks directly to our souls?? Do you know of any songs that have an angelic feel or theme to them? What if we put all of our songs together and created a playlist that would be comforting, soothing, welcoming, uplifting, healing, inspiring? What if this music could help some fellow wayfarers on the path feel a little less alone, a little more inspired, hopeful?
Please leave a comment with your top 1-3 divinely inspired songs and any pertinent info that will help me to find them (album, artist, etc.). Once I have a few song titles I’ll create a playlist on Spotify and share it here. Thanks so much for your help, friends. I look forward to hearing from you.
With hope and gratitude,
Going through this transition,
everything in my life is changing,
and people (bless their hearts)
want to offer advice:
You’ll need to get a full time job, they say
Your standard of living will go down, they say
Talk to your attorney, they say
It’ll get worse before it gets better, they say
Keep your head down, they say
You’ll be so much happier after this is over, they say.
And I want to say
How do you know what you think is true?
It sounds like what they’re saying comes from fear.
I don’t take advice from frightened people.
I sit and I pray:
Thank you, angels, for making your presence known to me.
Where would you have me go?
What would you have me do?
What would you have me say, and to whom?
We would have you stay right where you are.
We would have you breathe.
We would have you tell yourself
“I love you, I forgive you, all is well.”
Now that is some advice I can take!
It occurred to me tonight
as I invoked the muses before writing,
it is nice to have divine inspiration,
but it can’t do much if we don’t receive
what it is we are asking for.
Let’s get clear on what we want:
and then let us receive these things we ask for,
by breathing in deeply.
Then feeling the existence of these wondrous qualities within us,
let us share them with all beings
by giving of ourselves,
breathing out completely.
Yes, invoke divine beings–
angels, teachers, guides,
but then let’s do our job too.
