and I feel way less emotional
than I thought I would.
Even with you posting
the picture of your champagne,
saying “Divorce never tasted so good,”
and toasting your adventures
with your “new love…”
I’m not getting the same jolt
I got at this time last year,
when I realized you were with another.
There’s no more betrayal.
There’s no more grief.
There’s no more sense of loss.
I don’t need you anymore.
I have me now.
I have worked hard to heal
and to see what got me here;
I’m stronger now,
I can take care of myself…
and I love myself so much
that I actually enjoy being alone!
So go enjoy your Parisian vacation;
enjoy spending time with her.
I’m living deeper now,
inside a timeless place,
where the comings and goings
of a man such as you
can no longer affect me.
if you can help me shift
from indifference to compassion,
that would really be something!
A day of pleasure,
from one thing to the next
Breakfast with kids
then long meditation
a walk in the warm autumn woods
sitting and reading by the stream
some preparation to take kids out
for playground and picnic
then ten minutes of restorative yoga
Now, kids about to get off the bus
and I feel calm and happy.
This day is heaven on earth.
My cup is spilling over,
with joy, gratitude, connection.
I have arrived fully in this moment,
standing in the center of my self.
The one who sought fulfillment,
the one who wanted to be loved,
the one who longed to be seen, heard and held,
the one who desired safety, protection,
the one who wished to be taken care of,
the one who yearned to know God’s love—
that one takes a deep breath,
and knows that she is home.
Thank you, sweet muse,
for visiting me tonight
and shedding light
on my vision.
Thank you for making it fun.
Thank you for breathing me
as the old mind came undone.
Thank you for the new mind,
the mind of creative fulfillment,
the mind of flow, and trust,
the mind of service to the higher good.
Thank you for the mind of health,
the mind of prosperity,
the mind of joy.
Thank you for helping me to see
that it is all possibility now,
everything is available to me,
As I see all of life with this new mind.
Could I simply relax into this moment,
dive off the rigid, wire thin line of “normal”
and just immerse myself in this ocean of being?
I want to know what it’s like to love fully,
to feel content, at peace with myself,
to look out into the world
with eyes of compassion,
to cherish all beings
with the immense heart of the Buddha.
I think all of this will happen some day,
and then I remember,
it all has to happen right now.
And then I realize
Some day IS right now.
Today’s prompt: take an image from the tarot deck and build your poem from there. I love trying something new. And I’ve loved the tarot since I was in middle school. Win-Win!
She nourishes the land and sea
with her naked essence;
her vulnerability renders her
She is so focused on her task
of sharing the life giving waters
She doesn’t hear the little bird
chirping in her ear.
If she could,
this is what it would be saying:
Slow down, dear,
take your time.
Give of yourself, yes,
but let it pour forth slowly.
There is no hurry
and this world may not be ready
for a flood.
You don’t have to try so hard;
you are already good.
Forgiveness means freedom.
It is a gift you give first to yourself
and then to everyone else by extension.
When you are willing to live
from a place of true freedom
the resources appear
and you see beauty everywhere;
the voice speaks
and guides you closer
to what feels good;
the path ahead is lit brightly
so that you can find your way back home
to the warmest welcome
and the safety and comfort of good friends.
