Dedication

Standard

I believe in the way of love.
I follow my inner guidance
in the direction of my most
authentic expression.
I believe in health and goodness and light.
I know forgiveness
and am liberated in this moment,
a spokesperson for possibility
in a mind at home with itself.
Thank you Life
for giving me this chance
at self-realization.
Thank you for guiding me
to reach my fullest potential
for the benefit of all beings,
forever.

Audio Aspiration

Standard

Yes, I did.
A mic.
Yep.
With a boom arm,
shock mount and pop shield.
And an audio interface.
And monitoring headphones.
And at first, nothing, no sound.
But then I learned
I have a lot more to learn.
After a few nights’ sleep
and some humility,
after tweaking cables,
software settings,
gain, monitoring volume
and headphones volume,
Yureka, sound!,
The sound of a voice
captured digitally
and held in space
with the great aspiration
that whatever comes through,
whatever is passed on,
is for the greatest good of all beings.

Momentum

Standard

Once you get the ball rolling
it’s easier to keep it rolling
than it is to locate the ball
that once rolled into a dusty
corner and was eventually
forgotten.
Keep the momentum.
Anything counts.
Walking.
Brushing your teeth.
Sitting.
Breathing.
Chanting.
Laughing.
Dancing.
Singing.
Praying.
Playing.
Anything can count as a practice
if attended to every day
with a clear intention to awaken
as a result of your diligence.
Your momentum
builds strength and persistence.
Thank you for your willingness
to do the good work that
will help us all remember
who we really are.

Staying Awake

Standard

Staying awake
long enough
to breathe for my sisters,
my father,
my husband,
the world…
Feeling drowsy, peaceful,
almost nodding off,
but remembering
why I’m here,
why I’m doing this.
Stay awake
a voice says,
and I shake off my fatigue
for a moment longer.
And I realize
awakening is one thing
but staying awake is another.

Can You Afford Not To?

Standard

Finally the house is quiet.
The day’s frantic energy settles
into the stillness of night
and I can sit in peace.
I light a candle,
take my seat.
It feels like I’ve come home.
I wonder who else
in this world
is meditating
in exactly this same moment.
I picture us all sitting,
candles lit,
quiet, breathing,
many of us,
spanning the globe.
When I picture the world
in this way,
I feel hopeful for our future.
It may be a small offering
but it’s one I make every day.
Who knows what fruits
a lifetime of sitting will bear?
I like to imagine
I’m contributing to peace
on this planet.
I like to imagine
that when enough of us
sit and find peace
within ourselves
even for just a minute
even for just a second
we will eventually reach
a critical mass…
and we will see
a global healing take place.
Would you like to join in
this movement
of peacemaking and
light bringing?
Can you afford not to?
