Everything Changed

Standard

Giving my all
and keeping the faith,
waking up in thanks,
and praying for stamina,
working harder than ever
and singing praises for what I have,
day by day,
living this way,
smiling and choosing happiness
(no matter what)—
life is looking up.
And I see now
how ridiculous it was
to ask life to change for me,
for it to get easier,
for people to be more loving
more understanding and present—
I am the one who had to change.
When I changed on the inside,
when I decided to reclaim my power,
reignite my passion,
and revisit my values,
everything on the outside changed…
and I am grateful.

Stronger

Standard

Overcoming the old programming
by taking action
in direct opposition to the fear.
I was told I was terrible with money
so I retaliate with a budget.
I was told I was lazy,
so my answer is hustling with all I got.
I was told I was a squatter,
so I found my own place to live.
I was told to get a real job
so I tripled my work
at the job I already had.
Go ahead. Keep talking.
Every criticism makes me stronger.

Day By Day

Standard

Working hard, day by day
to pick myself up, dust myself off,
and move forward.
Working hard, day by day
to provide the things we need
to live our best life.
Working hard, day by day,
to see my character defects
and what I can do to improve them.
Working hard, day by day,
to see how fortunate I already am,
and to give thanks for what I already have.
